The April school holidays in New South Wales are just around the corner, and it’s an excellent opportunity for young people to explore their interests.
Our Oak Centre in Casino, known for its unique and engaging programs, has a lot planned for this period. We invite children from 12 to 17 to participate in a variety of activities, all designed to foster their interests and provide a supportive environment.
From making billy carts to getting creative with outdoor art, there’s something for everyone.
“We want to help young people learn new things, make friends and create memories”, says Fiona Miller, Momentum Collective’s Operations Manager, Casino.
“We’ve noticed more and more young people joining our holiday programs, which is encouraging. It’s incredible to witness our youth member’s personal growth and the sense of accomplishment they experience in our programs”, adds Fiona.
Behind the scenes, our dedicated Community Engagement Coordinator, Meigan, and Youth Worker, Tony, work tirelessly to collect our youth member’s feedback and ensure that each activity caters to diverse interests and age groups, creating a safe and nurturing environment for all participants.
“Every time I come, there’s something new to explore. But making a rocky road for Easter? That was the highlight,” exclaims Precious, a regular attendee who always looks forward to the workshops.
But wait, there’s more! Our committed staff at the Oak Centre also host a well-loved after school drop-in every Thursday. With attendance steadily increasing, we’re thrilled to welcome around 36 participants to each session. There’s a growing demand from both parents and youth for the program to be run more frequently. It’s a space where every young person feels a deep sense of belonging and is appreciated for their unique qualities.
