Chris is an enthusiastic and committed judo contender. His passion for martial art runs deep, and it has played a pivotal role in his personal development. Judo became more than just a sport; it became a path to building confidence and improving his ability to handle life’s challenges with grace.
“What I love about judo is its resemblance to jujitsu and its similarity to wrestling,” Chris shares. “It has taught me to approach situations calmly, with the knowledge that I can handle them safely.”
Recently, a brilliant idea struck Chris like lightning. He envisioned a unique project—a cabinet to proudly display his hard-earned judo medals. This venture aimed to showcase his achievements and served as a personal challenge to acquire new abilities in woodworking. Despite having no prior experience in crafting furniture, Chris eagerly accepted the task.
Under the guidance of his dedicated Community Support Worker, Felly, the young athlete Chris embarked on a journey of creativity and skill development. Together, they carefully designed the cabinet and sourced all the necessary materials. Chris’ dedication was evident in his weekly visits to the local men’s shed.
“I witnessed firsthand Chris’s determination when he delved into the world of woodworking for the first time. He was excited to learn a new skill and he was beaming with excitement after he successfully built his cabinet for his judo medals” says Felly.
Chris’s journey reminds us that with determination and a willingness to embrace challenges, great achievements are possible. Having achieved a spot in the championships in Brisbane, he eagerly looks ahead to the future. His goal is to return to the competitions next year, armed with even more training and expertise.
As he continues to refine his judo skills and explore the world of woodworking, Chris is a shining example of the transformative power of personal growth. Momentum is proud to have been a part of the journey, and we can’t wait to see what incredible feats he accomplishes next.
