Meet Chloe! A 19 year old essential worker who works in admin at the Casino Memorial Hospital. Chloe is heavily involved in her local community and mentions she is very familiar with her hometown, and everyone knows everyone.
Prior to securing her dream home in Momentum Collective’s Centre Street affordable housing, Chloe was undergoing some stressful experiences which was taking a big toll on her mental health.
“It’s almost impossible to find a home due to having no rental history as I had never rented before. My mental health really took a big toll as I was unable to accomplish some life goals, and I was searching for a calming space of my own. When I decided to apply to the Centre Street units, I was looking for a miracle not knowing if I would be successful or not”, said Chloe.
Chloe feels extremely lucky to have found a beautiful and modern new home that is affordable, and really speaks to her, particularly when living in an extreme housing crisis.
“The affordability of this home gives me more freedom and independence. I have the flexibility to take care of myself and look after my mental health when working five to seven days gets too much. This opportunity has completely changed my life. I wake up in the mornings and think ‘this can’t be real’, smiled Chloe.
“It really warms my heart to know that I have been given this opportunity, and that Momentum saw something in me, and decided to give me a shot”, says Chloe.
Chloe’s advice to other people looking for an affordable house during a housing crisis, is you miss the opportunities you don’t take and the chances are something positive will arise. In Chloe’s ideal village/community, she would like to see more affordable housing available like Centre Street so that younger people like herself can afford to live a lifestyle they deserve.
