Meet Debbie, our long-term finance whiz at Momentum Collective. Coming up to 13 years working in the Accounts Payable team, Debbie always hoped to secure an admin role in an office environment.

From the age of 15, Debbie worked in many diverse jobs – as a Bar Attendant, Receptionist, Cook, and Cleaner – to ensure she could afford to live comfortably in her hometown Chinderah, New South Wales.

Debbie’s career at Momentum Collective started in 2010.

“I remember feeling excited and nervous on my first day at Momentum Collective (previously known as On Track) I had been out of work for three months, and I felt relieved after receiving the happy news about securing the new role. ”

Over a decade of working at Momentum, Debbie has been through every change and improvement. One of the significant changes that stuck with her were the successful transition to paperless invoices.

“It’s amazing to remember when I had folders in a bookcase and would handwrite a cheque for every invoice. Now every invoice is processed digitally, which makes the Accounts Payable team’s life easier, and is better for the environment.”

The long-standing employee has demonstrated a proactive and positive attitude working in the corporate office for over a decade. Debbie has inspired other employees working alongside her. Whenever a team member has a question or doesn’t understand something concerning accounts, she is quick to lend a hand and always wants to help!

Debbie advises employees who hope to stay with a company for at least five years to maintain a positive mindset and keep the clients and external stakeholders at the forefront of everything they do.

“It is vital to treat others how you wish to be treated in a work environment and don’t be afraid to ask for support when needed. Throughout my career here at Momentum, I have observed everyone is very accommodating and lives by Momentum’s values of wellbeing and working well together.”

The future looks bright for Debbie as she hopes to continue working at Momentum until her body and mind are active. She looks forward to retiring when the time comes and spending that time with her family. This year in particular is a milestone for Debbie as her eldest son turns 30, and her two daughters turn 40 and 30!

Here at Momentum Collective, we are beyond lucky to have had such a committed and long-term member in our Finance team. Thanks to Debbie for all her hard work and the value she has added to the organisation. We are looking forward to celebrating her 13th work anniversary in April.
