Tweed DVIRC Information


Tweed Domestic Violence Integrated Response Committee (DVIRC) is comprised of representatives from Government agencies, Non-Government and Community organisations, who are committed to working within a feminist approach to addressing domestic and family violence.

Our Purpose:

The Tweed DVIRC recognizes that violence is a gendered issue.  The DVIRC exists to liaise, network, collaborate, lobby and effect change in order to:

  • Prioritise the safety of victims of domestic and family violence and their children
  • Enhance the accountability of perpetrators of domestic and family violence for their behaviour
  • Increase accessibility and co-ordination of service system responses to domestic and family violence and advocate accordingly
  • Enhance and promote the development of violence prevention strategies
  • Promote community awareness and education
The objectives of the DVIRC are:
  • Support regional coordination across and between government & community sectors
  • Facilitate community partnerships to address domestic and family violence
  • Set strategic directions
  • Identify funding opportunities to achieve the DVIRC Purpose

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.

The Committee raises funds to support women and children in the Tweed affected by domestic and family violence through the Impact Fund, and to promote community awareness and education.  If you would like to donate funds to the committee please click here.
