Our Casino Neighbourhood Centre has secured a $76,363 grant from the Youth Participation Fund as part of the Resilient Kids Program managed by Social Futures. This grant will support Momentum Collective’s mission to help youth who have left traditional schooling.
The Resilient Kids Program focuses on building resilience and encouraging youth participation. With this funding, Momentum Collective will run a new program over the next year.
Innovative Workshops for Re-Engaging Youth
The program will take place during the school term and aims to reconnect students with education. Four workshops will be held in partnership with local Elders, entrepreneurs and community and emergency services. These workshops will focus on skill-building, social integration, community awareness and having fun. Each term will end with a community celebration to showcase the participants’ achievements.
Practical Skills and Community Engagement
Fiona Miller, Operations Manager at Momentum Collective, is excited to start the program next month with the team currently finalizing plans to ensure impactful and engaging experiences for the youth.
“The first workshops will be ‘Garden to Table,’ focusing on sourcing food, budgeting, shopping, meal prep and serving. Through these activities, we believe participants will gain confidence, develop meaningful relationships and build a strong sense of belonging,” said Ms. Miller.
Commitment to Positive Change
Momentum Collective is dedicated to making a positive difference in young people’s lives with this program aiming to re-engage youth with education and equip them with practical life skills and a sense of community belonging.
Stay tuned for updates on the program’s progress and the inspiring stories of the youth participants as they embark on this transformative journey.
